| Reach
for tutors, teachers and instructors For learners who successfully
complete a course of study or achieve an important life goal, there
can be a significant improvement in their future life chances. However,
gaining new knowledge, learning new skills, or unlearning bad habits
can be tough on the learner and many give up before the end goal
has been achieved - leading to dissatisfaction and disappointment
all round.
Reach offers practical advice that will enable
students to cope better with the challenges they face and take control
of their own learning. It can be used with all sorts of ‘learners’
including those studying for qualifications, learning to drive or
learning how to lose weight. Which means that driving school instructors,
business or life coaches or mentors, slimming club instructors and
anyone interested in helping others to learn in order to achieve
a goal can also use Reach.
The Reach programme works at two levels:
1. A practical workbook and two online assessments for students
aiming to help them:
• Set achievable goals
• Tap into their personal intelligences
• Understand the process of learning
• Motivate themselves to achieve.
2. The Reach Tutor Guide gives you a practical
framework to encourage and retain students, thereby improving
their future opportunities.

How it
can help your students
The Motivation Map™: A practical tool
to encourage students to identify and record their goals.
The Motivation Map™ enables students to tap into the
benefits of goal setting and link goals to their personal
motivations.
Multiple Intelligences: Not everyone is
intelligent in the same way; people think and learn in different
ways. Using Howard Gardener’s Multiple Intelligences
Model, students can find their preferred intelligences and
use them to identify the learning methods that best suit them.
Quit or succeed: Takes students through
the four-stage model of learning and shows them how to cope
at the stage they are most likely to give up.
Taking control: The way we think has a significant
impact on the results we get in life. The more we believe
we have a lot of control over our lives, the more likely we
are to succeed. This section provides students with practical
activities to increase the level of control they have over
their lives.
